Mr. Paul Wairoma,
Artistic Director

Maboneng Arts Precincts, Johannesburg, South Africa

Paul is the Founding and Artistic Director of ArtNest Residency. He was raised in a rural village in Kenya along the shore of Lake Victoria. Paul is a leading and well-known African storyteller, poet, cultural arts manager, researcher, mental health disability arts specialist, community partnerships broker, networking and business coach, and delegate keynote speaker. He attended the fourth World Summit on Arts and Culture in 2009. He has over 25 years of arts experience, and enjoys mentoring youths who are transitioning into adulthood and thinking they ‘must enjoy life before life enjoys them !” Paul also works as a freelance consultant on arts and culture residencies worldwide. Paul loves African ethnic jazz music and dance. He is an avid reader of African literature novels and enjoys networking for the sake of it.

Ms. Belvocia Mabunda,
Acting Executive Director

Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa

Ms. Mabunda is originally from Limpopo, Tsonga and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Johannesburg in Public Administration and Governance. In her free time she listens to ethnic Tsonga music, loves working with wood art projects, and visits shopping malls for fun.

Mr. Malcolm X Andrew,
Social Media Manager

Nairobi, Kenya

Malcolm X is a freelance social media ninja. He volunteers remotely with ArtNest handling all our social media platforms. After completing his  ‘O’ levels in 2015, he took the path of music as a freelance DJ and music producer freelancing, studied digital photography and  intuitively became an arts manager to other young people who wanted music or video produced cheaply in the ghettos of Nairobi. He got interested in mentoring on HIV/AIDS and formed a youth group called Maisha Youths to educate on issues of health. Malcom X is well travelled to art festivals in Africa. He has been to Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and South Africa on issues of youth empowerment.

Ms. Bongi Carol, Office Assistant

Johannesburg, South Africa

Miss Bongi Carol volunteers as ArtNest’s office assistant, responsible for reception and office administration. She completed her high school diploma last year in Johannesburg.

Ms. Jaclyn Dentino, Strategist

Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Jaclyn Dentino is an arts administrator, flutist, and flute teacher who lives in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She currently works full-time for a professional, nonprofit theatre company. Jaclyn holds a Masters degree in Arts Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Fundraising Management from Boston University, and a Bachelors degree in Music Performance from Case Western Reserve University. She is thrilled to volunteer with ArtNest as a Brand Ambassador. In her free time, she enjoys jogging, horseback riding, and reading.

Ms. Maia Hay, Graphic Designer

Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Maia is a recent graduate from Wheaton College in Massachusetts, where she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Visual Art. She is an artist herself and is extremely passionate about community and public art. She is excited to volunteer with ArtNest and work with such an amazing team! In her free time she enjoys reading, spending time with her chickens, and taking hikes. 

Ms. Monza Letebele, Director

Known to us as Mama Director, Monzamoniemang Letebele hails from the northern Cape Kimberly. She is full of words of spiritual inspiration and biblical quotes, and brings wisdom to young people in urban African settings.

Mr. Charles Okumu, Hospitality & Logistics Planning

Bellevue East, Johannesburg, South Africa

Charles loves the arts and supports the arts all the time with his own resources. Within ArtNest, Charles is in charge of all hospitality and logistics planning – booking, transport, logistics, tents, chairs and table rentals, etc. He is responsible for the comfort and accounts of all visitors and participants. In his free time Charles loves to watch football – Manchester and Barcelona, and the younger Tanzania sports team. Originally from Kenya, he is gifted with a great spirit of endurance, resilience and vision.

Ms. Cynthia Okumu, Administrative Volunteer

Cape Town, South Africa

Ms. Cynthia Okumu lives in Cape Town, South Africa. She volunteers remotely with ArtNest in areas of strategic planning, team building, soft skills process, and general administration. Cynthia comes from a family of business-minded men and women and therefore brings a unique business mindset and sense of teamwork. She is in charge of ArtNest’s assets.
